Bangladesh captain Najmul Shanto expressed optimism in doing well against India in the two-match Test series, which is scheduled to start on September 19, following their 2-0 victory over Pakistan at home. Speaking on the subject, India captain Rohit Sharma made a joke on how, despite everyone’s confidence, no side ever wins against India in red-ball cricket, especially while playing on subcontinental pitches.
Earlier in the year, Rohit used England as an example while they were touring India. England had high hopes of defeating India in the five-match Test series led by Ben Stokes, but the hosts prevailed 4-1. Prioritising his performance and winning the series to maintain India’s WTC status, the skipper of India is not overly concerned with the opinions of the visitors before of the Bangladesh series.
“All teams want to defeat India; let them enjoy themselves. Sab team ko India ko harana mein maza aata hain, maza lene do unhe.” We don’t concentrate on that. When England arrived, they also made a lot of press statements. At the press conference, Rohit stated, “We try to play good cricket.”
I don’t see why KL Rahul can’t perform well in tests: Rohit Sharma
KL Rahul, the veteran batsman, will rejoin the Test team for the series against Bangladesh. Before suffering a quadriceps injury that kept him out of action for the final four games of the season, he was outstanding for India during the series against South Africa and earlier in the year against England.
Sarfaraz Khan fared well in Rahul’s absence and was considered the team’s long-term replacement for the Test captain. But Rohit has supported Rahul and said that he’s a part of the bigger picture.

“I don’t see any reason why Rahul can’t flourish in Tests; we all know he has the talent. It’s important we give clear message. Since he cameback, he scored a hundred in South Africa and more than eighty in Hyderabad before getting injured,” Rohit remarked.
