Engaging with reporters in traditional news conferences, whether they are in India or abroad, is always entertaining when Indian skipper Rohit Sharma does it. Another incident of Rohit being in the zone while chatting to media was the Indian captain making fun of his colleague Ishan Kishan, who turned 25 on Tuesday.
To play the West Indies in the multi-format series, the Indian team is currently in the Caribbean. Rohit Sharma and company are preparing for the second and final Test of the two-match series after winning the first one while beginning their ODI series preparations. In the first game of the series, Ishan, who had just turned 25, played in his first Test match.
In a game in which skipper Rohit scored his tenth red-ball century, wicketkeeper-batter Kishan amassed his first Test run for India. The question of the birthday gift Rohit presented to his MI and current India colleague, Kishan, was raised because of their good friendship. Kishan participated in his debut Test match under Rohit’s direction, and the Indian captain did not declare the Indian innings until the youngster had struck his first run.
In his entertaining press conference before the second Test match between India and the West Indies, Rohit jokingly challenged Ishan Kishan, who was turning 30, to get a century for the guests in the upcoming game. The Indian captain responded in a very hilarious way when the reporter inquired about Ishan Kishan’s birthday. He then turned to face Kishan and asked:
What birthday present does he desire? How about it, Bhai? Brother, what do you want? All of it is yours. The team should answer this question for us. The input should come from the team. You should offer us a birthday gift by scoring 100 runs, to quote Hum Logo Ko Dey Bhai.
WEST INDIES, I have no doubt, will recover. Rohit Sharma
Even Ishan began to giggle after hearing Rohit’s brilliant reaction, not just the media. The West Indies and India game will be the longest format’s 100th encounter. The West Indies will attempt to stage a comeback in the forthcoming Test after suffering a humiliating loss at the hands of the visitors, the Indian captain said in a pregame interview.
It’s a privilege to lead the Indian squad into this contest; it doesn’t happen frequently. Both sides have played a ton of excellent cricket throughout their long histories. I don’t think this test will be any different. Both teams will enjoy it, and I have no doubt that the Windies will recover,” Rohit continued.
