Rohit Sharma, one of the best batters in the world, has returned to head the Indian squad in the one-day international series against Sri Lanka, which consists of three matches.
In Assam, where the assignment is being held, a number of supporters gathered to witness the Indian team practise before the first game of the assignment.
Even India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, had the chance to talk to some of his supporters, but things got off to a rocky start as one of the fans started crying when they were able to finally shake the Hitman’s hand.
However, Rohit demonstrated a tremendous amount of compassion by approaching the supporter in order to console him.
As a result of an injury, Rohit has been sidelined ever since the one-day international series that was played against Bangladesh in December of the previous year.
He was absent for both of the Test matches in the series against Bangladesh and all of the Twenty20 Internationals that were played against Sri Lanka.
However, the captain will be hoping to be at the top of his game when he returns to the pitch for the one-day internationals against the Sri Lankans.
Ahead of the first episode of the series, however, the touching exchange that took place between Rohit and the fan who was crying has won over the hearts of everyone.
In a press conference that took place the day before the first one-day international, Rohit discussed a variety of issues, one of which being the trajectory of his Twenty20 career.
The seasoned hitter stated unequivocally that he had no plans to switch back to the longer version of the game any time in the near future.
“We only have six Twenty20 Internationals, and three of them are over. We’ll make it work, you know, to take care of those youngsters until the IPL begins. Then we’ll see what happens after the Indian Premier League is concluded. Nevertheless, I have not reached the conclusion that I should abandon the format “In the press conference, Rohit made the following statement.
The opening batter also stated that the One-Day International World Cup, which will take place before the end of this year, is the primary priority for both himself and the squad at this time.
“At this point in time, I believe that it has been made quite obvious that we will be focusing on the 50-over World Cup this year. And it’s not possible for some of the guys to compete in all the different formats, “Rohit remarked.
