India captain Rohit Sharma has come forward and backed Virat Kohli to play at his best in the tournament’s final match, despite his poor performance in the World Cup. In addition to confirming Kohli’s spot in the final playing XI, Rohit said that form is irrelevant for players who have played for 15 years or more.
After defeating England in the second semifinal of the competition, Team India advanced to the championship match of the current T20 World Cup 2024. On Saturday, June 29, the team will play South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, with a chance to win the championship.9

The Indian team would be very confident before the match. Virat Kohli, the team’s star batsman, is the lone area of concern, though. The 35-year-old has not been able to compete in the competition. Kohli has scored 75 runs at an average of 10.71 and a strike rate of 100 in seven innings.
“Look, he is a good player; that (a lack of form) can happen to any player.” However, let me reiterate that we recognise his class and his significance in all of these major games. After fifteen years of playing cricket, form is never an issue. According to Livemint, Rohit Sharma was reported as stating, “He is looking good, the intent is there, and (he is) probably saving for the finals.”
As a team, we’ve been really composed: Rohit Sharma
The Indian captain also spoke up to provide details on his team’s campaign for the major event. According to him, they have been quite composed from the beginning.
As a team, we’ve been incredibly composed. We recognise the moment (final). Making wise choices is aided by maintaining composure. That will enable us to win the game. You must be a competent cricket player. In the end, we want to do that. All I can say is that we’ll give it our best shot. The team is performing well and is in fantastic shape. Come finals, all I can aim for is to put on another fantastic performance,” Rohit remarked.
