In the first Test match between India and Bangladesh in Chennai, skipper Rohit Sharma scored five runs in the second innings and six runs in the first. Both he and star batsman Virat Kohli, who scored six and seventeen runs respectively, had trouble getting going.
In the opening over, Kohli attempted a cover drive but was caught by a spinner, and in the second over, a spinner again outplayed him. But even though the on-field lbw call could have saved him, the hitter decided not to contest it.
In spite of this, former cricket player Aakash Chopra said that there is now no cause for concern about the players’ form. The 47-year-old recalled that Rohit was in outstanding form during the 2024 T20 World Cup and that Kohli had a crucial innings in the championship game.
Aakash Chopra also emphasised Rohit’s contribution to the series victory against Sri Lanka.
I’ll state that it’s not a big deal. Sometimes runs are scored but not recorded. If it’s a lengthy patch, runs not being scored could be a cause for concern. They both exited the T20 World Cup with incredible highs after participating in it. You want to take a small break and relax after that. They were, nevertheless, dispatched to Sri Lanka for the ODIs.
Rohit Sharma had a great appearance. He encountered no problems. On his YouTube channel, Chopra stated, “There was no other cricket after Virat Kohli failed to score runs there.
Had they played Duleep Trophy, perhaps things might have gone more smoothly: Aakash Chopra
Chopra said that Rohit and Kohli playing for the Duleep Trophy would have likely been preferable. He thinks the cricket players may have performed better versus Bangladesh if they had participated in the competition and were able to get into the flow.
They did not participate in the Duleep Trophy, and I am aware that you raised the topic of whether their decision to abstain from the competition worried them.

He continued, “Maybe it would have been better if they had played because there is no guilt or hesitancy in playing.
