Team India’s prolific wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant made a thrilling comeback to Test cricket with a thrilling century against Bangladesh in the ongoing first Test at Chennai. He announced his arrival after recovering from a fatal car crash which left him in tatters for more than a year.
Nevertheless, this did not deter a determined Pant from progressively finishing his recovery and taking to the field by participating in limited overs cricket before representing India in Test whites and beginning red-ball cricket. He showed off his old personality during his exciting knock, displaying some creative stroke work. This includes strokes like his signature one-handed sixer to hammer the spinner or paddle ramping the pacer for a six.
Speaking of his brilliant performance, he provided good assistance for Shubman Gill in the second innings. Gill was unsuccessful in the first innings and is now close to reaching a hundred runs. In his 128-ball stay, Rishabh Pant hit four sixes and thirteen fours.

Curiously, Bangladesh’s captain Najmul Hassan Shanto failed to make a straightforward catch when he was batting at 72. Pant, therefore, seized the opportunity and proceeded to record an exhilarating century to make his day unforgettable.
Meanwhile, here’s how the fans reacted to Rishabh Pant’s century knock:

We know stats don’t tell the full story. So…
Pant in his 33 Tests has 11 fifties & 5 hundreds. Average 43. But his 11 fifties include 6 nineties!
& one 89* which is an all time great innings! #IncrediblePant— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) September 21, 2024
