The Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) was the means by which star cricketer Rishabh Pant returned to competitive cricket following a potentially fatal injury in December 2012. After two years away, the wicketkeeper-batter entered the Delhi Capital team with ease and took up the customary captaincy role.
Despite the team finishing sixth in the standings, the season’s high point was Pant’s return. Before a game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the southpaw was given a game ban, which is what happened in the previous season. Axar Patel assumed the role of captain, and the match that Delhi lost turned out to be pivotal. According to the Times of India (TOI), Axar may take over as the Delhi Capitals’ next captain once Pant steps down as captain before the 2025 Indian Premier League.
The unexpected decision is made by the Uttarakhand batsman to concentrate on his batting and lessen the responsibility of captaincy. In addition, Venugopal Rao may take over as director of the Delhi Capitals before the upcoming season, replacing former India captain Sourav Ganguly. Three players have been finalised by the camp: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Rishabh Pant, according to a source close to the franchise.
