When playing Bangladesh in the Test series, Team India got off to an incredible start. On September 19, India hosted the visitors at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After four days of play, the team won by 280 runs, taking the lead in the series.
Star batter Rishabh Pant‘s performance was one of the series’ most talked-about moments. After nearly two years away due to a near-fatal vehicle accident in December 2022, the 26-year-old returned to the Test team.
But as soon as he was back, Pant got to work, scoring 39 and 109 in the game’s first two innings to aid India in winning. Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, who came forward and referred to Pant as the team’s biggest match-winner, was greatly delighted by Pant’s efforts.
“When England last visited India, Rishabh Pant wasn’t present. Pant, who entered the game at No. 5–6, has been India’s greatest match-winner. No one has ever produced a more memorable innings than his at the Gabba, according to Mohammad Kaif, who spoke to the Times of India.
I believe that Rishabh Pant is most suited to Test cricket that’s his best format statistically – Mohammad Kaif
The Indian think tank just needs to consider Rishabh Pant. There is no reason to consider anyone else. His heyday will not come until he is about 27 years old. Until then, his game will continue to improve, and he will reach his zenith. Thus, especially in Test cricket, Rishabh Pant’s prime is yet to come, he continued.

Notably, with six tonnes under their belts, Pant has tied the record held by former India captain MS Dhoni for the most Test century made by a wicketkeeper for his country. While Dhoni played 90 Test matches in his career and amassed 4876 runs and six tonnes of hits, Pant accomplished the mark in just 34 Test matches, having already amassed 2419 runs.
