Ricky Ponting says that Suryakumar Yadav should be in India's ODI World Cup team because "everyone has their ups and downs."

Ricky Ponting, a former captain of Australia, thinks that Suryakumar Yadav should be in India’s team for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, even though he is not in good form. Ponting said that if he were in charge of choosing players for the Indian team, he would be sure to include the right-hander among the other players. India’s top order is likely to be led by Rohit Sharma, an up-and-coming opener, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli. A few spots are still open in their top six for the 50-over World Cup, which starts in India in October.

During the recent ODI series against Australia, India’s middle order did not bat well. Suryakumar had a particularly hard time, and he set a bad record by being out for a “golden duck” in three straight innings. India lost the three-game series 2-1 at home, which was a big deal.

Since his last fifty in an ODI in February 2022, Suryakumar has scored 172 runs at a rate of 12.28 per game. But Ponting has told India to have faith in the Mumbai batter, saying that everyone has a rough patch at some point in their careers. He went on to say that he had never seen someone get three first-ball ducks in a row, but that every international player has their ups and downs.

“Yes, without a doubt. Everyone goes through something like that in their work life. I mean, I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone get three ducks on the first ball in a row in a whole series. We’ve all been there, though. As an international player, you have your ups and downs “Ponting told The ICC Review host Sanjana Ganesan about this.

Suryakumar Yadav’s skills are known all over the world: Ricky Ponting is a famous cricketer.
The former cricketer went on to talk about how Suryakumar tends to win big games and how well he did in the T20 format recently. He thinks India should keep him because he is the kind of player who can help them win the World Cup. He also said that the India batter was like Andrew Symonds in that he could win games.

“The last 12 to 18 months have been fantastic for him. And everyone in the world knows how good Surya is at cricket with a white ball. I think they should keep him around because he’s the kind of player who can help them win the World Cup “Ponting said.

“He might not always do what’s expected of him, but he’s the kind of guy who can win you games when it matters. Something like what Australia’s late great Andrew Symonds did for the country. So, that’s how I’d definitely look at it for India. I wouldn’t take the safe route. I’d pick players who win games, and I think he’s a game-winner “he added.
