Parth Jindal, who is a co-owner of Delhi Capitals, took to Twitter on Wednesday to tell fans that the team has already started getting ready for the next Indian Premier League season. He also said that, with the help of Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Ponting, they would work hard to get Delhi to where they want it to be.
The 2023 IPL season for the Capitals was a nightmare because they lost their first five games in a row. They were able to find their groove for a little while in the middle of their season, but then they went back to their old ways and ended up with just ten points and ninth place in the standings after 14 games.
Parth Jindal said in a tweet, “Preparations for next year’s @IPL are underway here at @DelhiCapitals. Along with @SGanguly99 and Ricky Ponting, Kiran and I are working hard to get this team back to where we want it to be, which is at the very top.”
Notably, Rishabh Pant led the team in the 15th edition. However, he was hurt in a car accident in December 2022 and couldn’t play in the 2023 edition, which made things very bad for Delhi.
Some of Delhi’s best players, like Prithvi Shaw and Rilee Rossouw, weren’t able to regularly give great performances on stage. This hurt Delhi’s performance. During the 2023 season, Axar Patel’s place at the bottom of the batting order was criticised.
Between 2019 and 2021, the Delhi Capitals made it to the IPL playoffs three years in a row, making it to the finals in 2020. They haven’t made it to the playoffs since then.
Also, it’s not clear if Rishabh Pant will be healthy enough to play in the IPL next year or if Shane Watson and James Hopes will keep their jobs as assistant coaches.
