Shan Masood, Pakistan’s Test captain, has been under a lot of strain lately because his team lost the most recent Test series against Bangladesh at home. Additionally, after Pakistan’s performances, many have questioned Shan Masood’s leadership qualities when he lost 0-3 to Australia to start his captaincy.
It should be noted that Pakistan will play England in a next series, and given the team’s recent performance, fan and pundit dissatisfaction has reached all-time highs.
The same was seen during a recent press conference when Shan Masood was asked a direct question by a journalist. A journalist questioned Shan Masood in a video that has gone viral on social media about why he hasn’t considered stepping down yet.
When he saw the question, Sami Ul Hasan, the PCB’s head of media and communication, stepped forward to advise the journalists to consider their questions before posing them and to show Shan Masood some decency.
Shan, you just stated that you would take advantage of the opportunity if it were presented to you. The journalist questioned, “But doesn’t it originate from within to step aside when you’ve been losing and the performances aren’t there?”

We must not lose hope: Shan Masood
Pakistan’s dreams of making it to the World Test Championship final were dashed as they lost two straight series. Shan Masood preached the same optimistic philosophy, and the team would aim to improve with the next series in order to win back the faith of their supporters.
As a team, we are at a pivotal point, and we must maintain our optimism. Even while the team’s losses are painful, it’s critical to stand with them—especially in trying times.
