Throughout Day 1 of the match, Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja both played outstanding performances and kept Bangladesh from taking any more wickets despite coming into bat in a problematic situation with the score at 144/6. Ashwin went on to achieve his century, showing off his skill at the greatest level once more and bucking age.
India’s first Test match against Bangladesh did not start well for the Indian team. It is noteworthy that on September 19, the first Test match between the two teams took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Team India lost the toss and chose to bat first.
With just six runs scored off of the bat, captain Rohit Sharma led the hosts to a poor start. Furthermore, after Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli were removed early for 0 and 6 runs, respectively, things became much worse for the team.
But, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant’s middle-order stand helped to somewhat steady the innings. Pant scored 39 runs in 52 deliveries, while Jaiswal, who opened the innings, tallied 56 runs in 118 deliveries. India took control of the situation after the middle order stand thanks to the collaboration of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.
With the loss of six wickets and a century in just 108 deliveries, Ashwin gave India a performance to remember as they amassed 339 runs at a cost of 339 runs. While Ravindra Jadeja hit 86* runs, Ashwin amassed 102* runs.

Bangladesh will try to end the partnership as Day 2 draws near, dismiss the last of the Indian hitters, and bat first to reduce the margin as much as possible. But given the condition of the surface, Bangladesh won’t have it easy from the hosts.
Here’s how X reacted to Ravichandran Ashwin’s knock against Bangladesh:
