Afghanistan has won three straight games to advance to the Super 8 phases of the T20 World Cup, and they are enjoying a fairytale run. They defeated the Kiwis by 84 runs in their notable triumph over New Zealand. And with just one game remaining, their playoff berth was secured against Papua New Guinea. Rashid Khan, his captain, was telepathically teasing his star player Fazalhaq Farooqi, who was overjoyed.
Rashid Khan hurried over to the cameramen’s area as Farooqi entered to get the Player of the Match award. From behind the cameras, the spinner could be seen menacing the pacer as he began his speech. Rashid’s actions annoyed Farooqi, to the point where she requested him to stop talking. Regarding his performance, on June 13 against Papua New Guinea, the left-arm bowler took three wickets while conceding only 16 runs, helping his team win by seven wickets.
“I think we played some terrific cricket, so I want to congratulate the people of Afghanistan on making it to the Super 8. Despite not getting a game during my time in the IPL, I came here to give myself the strength to come and perform. When I bowl, my two strategies are to just get wickets if there is any swing or seam and to bowl in the appropriate spots and keep it simple if there is no movement. In the post-match presentation, Farooqi stated, “We just need to give it our all and do our best (in the Super 8).”
