When Ramandeep Singh of the Kolkata Knight Riders violated the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during Match 60 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against the Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on May 11, he was fined twenty percent of his match costs.
In accordance with IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.20, Ramandeep committed a Level 1 infraction. He acknowledged the wrongdoing and consented to the Match Referee’s punishment. The decision made by the Match Referee is final and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct.
Regarding Ramandeep Singh performance in the game, the right-hander helped KKR reach a total of 157 with a useful unbeaten knock of 17 off just eight balls.
Once more, the team performed admirably on their home pitch. They were rocked by the early wickets of their openers in the first seven balls of the encounter after losing the toss and batting first. But to put a competitive total on the board, Venkatesh Iyer (42 off 21), Nitish Rana (33 off 23), Andre Russell (24 off 14), and Rinku Singh (20 off 12) each drove the innings ahead at different points. Bumrah (2/39) and Chawla (2/28) were the two most impressive bowlers for the Mumbai Indians.
Likewise, MI started well, hitting 65 runs in 6.4 overs prior batting Ishan Kishan (40 off 22) being dismissed by Narine. Shortly after, Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Rohit Sharma (19 off 24) with some astute bowling. From this point on, the MI innings did start to lose momentum as the spinners began to exert more and more influence over the game. Suryakumar was a major disappointment for MI because the squad had great hopes for him in this particular scenario. He could not escape and could only manage 11 runs off 14 balls at the end of his innings.
A ray of light was seen towards the end from Tilak Varma (32 off 17) and Naman Dhir (17 off 6), but their wickets caused MI to finish at 139/8, losing the match by 18 runs.
