National, September 20, 2024: The Rajasthan Royals have announced that Vikram Rathour, a former opener for India, has been appointed as the team’s batting coach. Experienced cricket professional Rathour joins the Royals coaching staff soon after Rahul Dravid returned to the team as Head Coach, rekindling a productive collaboration that propelled India to the top of the rankings in all three formats during their time together and helped the nation win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year.
Throughout 2019 to 2023, Rathour—who is renowned for his technical skill—served as India’s hitting coach, helping to mould the careers of young Indian batters. During his time there, he helped players go through important stages in their growth, including Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul. Rathour coached Punjab and Himachal Pradesh in domestic cricket before taking on his position as an India selector.
Vikram Rathour has vast experience; he was an Indian cricket player for six Tests and seven ODIs before moving into a well-respected coaching position
Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, welcomed Rathour to the team and stated, “Having worked closely with Vikram for many years, I can confidently say that his technical expertise, calm demeanour, and deep understanding of Indian conditions make him a perfect fit for the Royals.” I’m excited to work with him again because we’ve developed a great rapport while leading India to significant achievements. As we work to bolster our roster and keep Rajasthan Royals becoming a premier team, his ability to develop young talent and maximise players’ potential will be vital.”

“It’s a privilege to be part of the Royals family,” said Vikram Rathour, a coach for numerous national and international teams, expressing his excitement. It is an immensely thrilling prospect to collaborate with Rahul once more, and this time with a gifted bunch of young cricket players. As we strive towards our objective of producing elite players who can assist India and the Royals win titles, I look forward to adding to the team’s vision.
