After taking 500 wickets in the longest format for the Indian squad, veteran all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin recently achieved a significant milestone. Nationwide celebrations erupted for the star spinner’s enormous accomplishment. It is noteworthy that Ashwin achieved the milestone during the recently finished India vs. England series.
Ashwin, an experienced all-rounder, was warmly welcomed in Jaipur as he prepared for the 17th Indian Premier League (IPL) following the conclusion of the series.
In a video that the Rajasthan Royals shared on social media, Ashwin received a surprise from the team in his room on reaching 500 Test wickets. The goal is for the Rajasthan Royals to win a second IPL title.
In relation to the Rajasthan Royals, the team has been underperforming in the major competition for some time. Rajasthan hasn’t been able to hold the trophy since winning the Indian Premier League in 2008.
However, Sanju Samson’s side will be hoping that things can change in the same way in 2024. RR was led by him to the tournament’s final match, when they faced the Gujarat Titans led by Hardik Pandya, but they were ultimately defeated.
In 2023, they also failed to advance to the knockout stages, finishing in fifth place in the standings and missing the playoffs because of their low net run rate, which allowed the Mumbai Indians to qualify.
When the IPL 2024 draws near, the Rajasthan Royals will play the Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The team’s goal is to start strong and, ideally, win it all.
