R Ashwin, a senior off-spinner for India, has urged with fans to have patient with star batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as they pursue an International Cricket Council trophy. He made this request by pointing out that it took “the great” Sachin Tendulkar six attempts to win a World Cup.
Since India’s victory in the Champions Trophy back in 2013, the team hasn’t had much luck in ICC competitions. India’s most recent World Cup victory was in 2011.
It’s easy to claim you haven’t won this or that, Ashwin said on his YouTube account, praising both his previous and present captains for India.
Sachin Tendulkar, one of cricket’s all-time greats, took part in the World Cup tournaments in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, and 2007. In 2011, he was successful enough to win the World Cup. It took him a total of six attempts before he was finally successful in winning a World Cup.
There is no guarantee that everyone will have the same success as another stalwart, MS Dhoni, who was brought in to take over and immediately won the World Cup.
The team has been criticised for not having won an ICC championship in almost a decade, and their most recent defeat was a humiliating loss to England in the quarterfinal of the T20 World Cup that was held in Australia in November of last year.
As a request to the crowd, Ashwin asked that some space be given to Rohit and Kohli.
In 2007, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli chose not to take part in the tournament. Rohit Sharma was disqualified from participating in the World Cup in 2011.
Only Kohli will be participating in the World Cup tournaments in 2011, 2015, 2019, and currently in 2023. They assert, “He has never won an International Cricket Council tournament.” Both the 2011 Champions Trophy and the 2013 iteration of the competition were brought home by him.
In addition, Rohit Sharma was the winner of the Champions Trophy in 2013. We are now in a position to give those men some space. They are competing in a variety of sports, including bilaterals, the IPL, and many others. He made the observation that in order to succeed in ICC competitions, you need those crucial moments to go in your favour.
In October and November, India will play host to the One-Day International World Cup.
