Since losing his leadership with the Mumbai Indians, Rohit Sharma has been the talk of the town. Hardik Pandya was announced as the new captain of MI ahead of the Indian Premier League in 2024. Rumors about Sharma joining other teams as captain thereafter took over social media fan pages.
Some pages used fictitious quotes from well-known people, even though many of the rumors were dubious. Fake reports about Preity Zinta, the owner of the Punjab Kings, are circulating in one such instance. Zinta would do whatever it took to get Sharma to captain her side, according to one statement. She used social media to stop the erroneous information from spreading.
“Untrue information! These articles are all fictitious and without any foundation. I adore Rohit Sharma and think highly of him, but I have never mentioned him in an interview or made this claim! I also think Shikhar Dhawan is a great actor, and the fact that he is injured right now makes these articles seem really out of taste,” Zinta stated in her “X” post.

These stories serve as an excellent illustration of how false information is picked up online and spread without any kind of check. I respectfully ask that the media refrain from disseminating this and making everyone involved feel uncomfortable. My sole message is that we have an excellent team right now and that winning games and making the most of #PL2024 are our main priorities. I’m grateful, she said.
Here is Preity Zinta’s most recent article on ‘X’:
#Fakenews ! All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT ! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured ,… pic.twitter.com/VYbyV4eqHU

Pandya enduring criticism
After Hardik Pandya was announced as the new MI captain, there was a tremendous outcry from the former MI captain’s supporters. At Wankhede Stadium, Pandya was heckled by fans and signs denouncing him were raised. During IPL 2024, the all-rounder’s bat is going through a slump. His strike rate has exacerbated MI’s problems down the line and sparked questions about his methodology.
