The St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots’ season came to an end after Trinbago Knight Riders defeated them by seven wickets in a high-scoring encounter in the second game of the day in the 2024 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The Patriots won their opening game of the season, but they have subsequently lost all of their games; nevertheless, this loss in Tarouba was especially harsh because they scored a massive 193/4 with the bat after being put in at the toss.
With an outstanding innings of 93 from 61 balls, which featured six sixes into the stands and strokes all over the pitch, captain Andre Fletcher took the lead from the off. Fletcher was caught by Kieron Pollard’s bucket hands on the long off boundary by Chris Jordan, depriving him of a well-earned century by seven runs.
Nicholas Pooran was declared the Player of the Match
Jordan was the best bowler for the Knight Riders and showed off his own velcro hands with an amazing diving catch off a short ball that Kyle Mayers misplayed, giving away a quick return opportunity.
The Knight Riders were methodical in their pursuit, with Jason Roy scoring 64 runs off 34 deliveries at the top of the order.
Nicholas Pooran was declared the Player of the Match after scoring thirteen boundaries and finishing undefeated on 93* off just forty-three deliveries, despite some careless catching that resulted in his being out of the game on a few occasions.

The Patriots will be disappointed by the interceptions and the lost chance to defeat one of the favourites and cap off a challenging season. After bringing down the sizable target with nine balls left, the Knight Riders will see an increase in their net run rate. They are currently tied for 10 points with the Barbados Royals and the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
