India, captained by Rohit Sharma, advanced to the 2023 ODI World Cup finals but fell short against Australia in the championship match by six wickets. Even so, the captain has received a lot of recognition for his devotion and selflessness, but it is yet unknown if he will play white-ball cricket for India again in the future. Due to the opener’s decision to skip the forthcoming T20I and ODI series against South Africa, several rumors are already circulating about his future.
As for Rohit’s leadership qualities, his teammate Ravi Ashwin said that the cricketer goes above and beyond to get to know each member of the squad. Ashwin went on to say that one of his best qualities as a person is that he makes an effort to find out what his players enjoy and dislike.
Everyone will tell you that MS Dhoni is the best captain in Indian cricket if you look at it.
However, Rohit Sharma is a wonderful individual who has a deep understanding of every member of the squad. He has a wonderful awareness of each of our likes and dislikes. He makes an attempt to get to know every player individually,” Ashwin stated in a YouTube video.
Ashwin stressed how much he missed the World Cup final.
The team management chose to go with the same lineup; therefore, the seasoned spinner was not going to play in the final versus Australia due to a very late call. Regarding that, Ashwin said he was psychologically ready to carry beverages as well as understanding the choice.
If I were Rohit, I would have considered changing the winning combination a hundred times. The squad was performing well, so why not use three spinners to rest a fast bowler? To be honest, I could see where Rohit Sharma was coming from. I spent three days practicing since playing in the final is a huge deal. Simultaneously, I was ready to support the opposing team and rush in with energy drinks in case I didn’t get the chance. I was also mentally ready for that,” Ashwin said in closing.
