Pat Cummins, the World Cup-winning captain of Australia, took charge of the young cricket player. Reddy recently talked about his observations and experiences at this life-changing time.
In the world of cricket, where talent and tenacity are the keys to success, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s tale is particularly noteworthy as an example of commitment and diligence. The youthful Andhra Pradesh all-round player has advanced quickly, making a big impression in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and receiving his first-ever call-up to the national team.
Due to his outstanding performance with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 season, he received his first call-up for the Indian team’s tour of Zimbabwe. But destiny had other ideas, as his international debut was momentarily halted by a hernia ailment.
Reddy was soon reassured that Cummins was already acquainted with the young player’s skills, allaying his concerns about playing for a foreign captain.
Pat only became a member three days prior to the IPL. In the meantime, the coaches were rather impressed with my performance in the practice matches. I did, however, want the skipper to know. “Does he know how I play and approach the game?” was my immediate thought. However, he told Nitish, “You’re playing very well,” when he first joined, according to an interview with News18 CricketNext.
When the all-rounder found out that Cummins had gone online to watch his batting footage, he was pleasantly delighted. Reddy experienced a major boost in confidence as a result of the Australian captain’s gesture, which strengthened his faith in his own skills.
“I was rather taken aback. How is my batting knowledge known to him? I asked him why he hadn’t seen me during the practise sessions, and he said that he had seen my YouTube batting videos and thought I was talented. Thus, that’s actually kind of a lift,” Reddy continued.
He conveyed his admiration for the Australian’s style of leadership. He added that he used to constantly admire his leadership abilities and look up to him.

“Being the captain of a World Cup-winning team, it was truly an honour to play alongside him.” He continued, “I always looked up to him as a player because of how wonderful of a captain he is.
The youthful cricket player had an incredible IPL 2024 performance. Reddy amassed an astounding strike rate of 142.92 and an average of 33.66 while scoring 303 runs in 13 games.
Two half-centuries were included in his steady performances. Reddy’s international debut may have been postponed due to an unfortunate injury, but he is focused on competing at the top level.

“We simply need to take advantage of the possibilities we are given and let the BCCI make the decisions they see fit. However, we must remain concentrated and perform well in every given circumstance. All we have to do is seize those chances,” he said.
