Before the Twenty20 World Cup in 2021, Pakistan had never been victorious over India in a World Cup match, regardless of whether the match was played with 50 overs or 20.
At the Twenty20 World Cup in 2022, the Indian cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team will compete against each other on October 23. The most recent time that these two sides competed against one another in a World Cup match, Pakistan came out on top and defeated India. This took place in the Twenty20 World Cup in 2021, which was won by Pakistan under the leadership of Babar Azam and thoroughly dominated by India. The victory was made much sweeter by the fact that it was the first time a Pakistani team had ever defeated an Indian squad in a World Cup match. Prior to the victory, Pakistan had lost all 12 of their previous matches against India in the combined 50-overs and T20 World Cup competitions.
Sohaib Maqsood, who bats in the middle of Pakistan’s lineup, recently shared his thoughts on why his country has been so unsuccessful against India in the mega event.
“The reason for the constant defeat of the green shirts versus India in World Cup matches is because the Pakistani squad went overexcited,” the 35-year-old Sohaib Maqsood was reported as saying by Cricketpakistan.com. “The reason for the failure is because the Pakistani team became overexcited.” However, in the recent past, our squad began treating Indo-Pak matches properly, and we have noticed an improvement in our performance as a result of this change.
Due to his injury, Maqsood was not selected for Pakistan’s team to compete in the 2021 T20 World Cup; nonetheless, he is optimistic about his chances of making a comeback.
“A few appearances for my country in international competition during a professional career spanning twenty years does not warrant my ability. As a result of my injuries, I was cut from the national team on more than one occasion. I have successfully made a number of comebacks, and I am excited to continue representing Pakistan “he remarked.
Sohaib Maqsood has represented Pakistan in 29 one-day internationals and 26 twenty20 internationals, in which he has scored 781 and 273 runs, respectively.
