PCB and ACB have teamed up to stage their first-ever T20I series despite a great deal of political animosity between these two neighboring countries. Importantly, the three-match event will begin on March 24 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah, and the final match will be played at the same venue on March 27.

In the lead-up to the historic series, Pakistan’s administration has announced a large number of new support staff members. Umar Gul will serve as the interim bowling coach, while Abdul Rehman, a seasoned coach, has been named the interim head coach. Significantly, Babar Azam will be absent from the series, and Shadab Khan will head the team. They have also given pace combination Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf some rest.

Afghanistan will face a difficult challenge in the middle. The Rashid Khan-led side possesses a formidable lineup and a number of outstanding bowlers, but the form of some Pakistani players will make it difficult for them to win. Sediqullah Atal, renowned for his ferocious cricket ball hitting, will make his long-awaited debut in the series. On the other side, the team management has omitted Rahmat Shah and Hazratullah Zazai, thus it remains to be seen what lineup they choose.
Squads Afghanistan: Rashid Khan (c), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Usman Ghani, Sediqullah Atal, Najibullah Zadran, Afsar Zazai, Karim Janat, Mohammad Nabi, Azmatullah Omarzai, Gulbadin Naib, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Fareed Ahmad, Fazal Haq Farooqi and Naveen Ul Haq
