In the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, the United States of America won thrillingly over Pakistan with a fantastic performance. With three wickets from Nosthush Kenjige and two from Saurabh Netravalkar, their spinners held the Babar Azam-led team to 159 runs. The USA appeared to be in control of the chase, but ultimately the match ended evenly and went to the Super Over.
The USA won by five runs in the Super Over despite Mohammad Amir leaking eighteen runs. The team lead by Monank Patel had a huge win as they pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the game. Spokesman for the US State Department Matthew Miller expressed his happiness with the victory but declined to comment further, claiming that it was outside of his “area of expertise”.
As per India Today, Miller stated, “I often get into trouble when I try to comment on things beyond my area of expertise, and I would say Pakistan’s cricket team is definitely in that category.”
The political ties between the two countries are highlighted by Miller’s remarks. In terms of sports, Pakistan has never been able to match the United States in football, athletics, or tennis. However, in cricket, the country’s title was also revoked in the T20 World Cup 2024.
