The Caribbean islands have received warnings about potential terror threats coming from North Pakistan, according to a trustworthy source with knowledge of the development. Starting on June 1st, the T20 World Cup will conclude on June 29th with the summit match.
“We are actively observing the situation and keeping in close contact with the appropriate authorities. According to the source, security measures are being continuously evaluated to make sure that suitable procedures are in place to minimise any dangers that are found.
The threat is associated with IS Khorasan, which makes the situation much more serious. According to Keith Rowley, the prime minister of Trinidad, the security services were prepared to handle any threats to matches, as reported by the “Daily Express.”
The story states that “the Barbados regional security officials are monitoring potential threats to the ICC event” along with “intelligence of a potential threat to the World Cup has been received through Pro-Islamic State (Daesh) through the media group ‘Nashir Pakistan’.”
World Cup matches in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago will take place in the West Indies. The games will take place in US cities like Florida, New York, and Texas in the interim. On June 9, New York will host the highly anticipated match between longtime rivals India and Pakistan. Nonetheless, there appears to be no danger to the games in the US. Barbados will host the final after the two semifinals are held in Trinidad and Guyana.
