Because of the deadly flash floods in Florida, a state of emergency was proclaimed in Fort Lauderdale. The local government has halted hundreds of flights that are scheduled to depart from and arrive at airports in South Florida. The Sri Lankan team is currently stranded in the city as a result.
A few key T20 World Cup matches are set to take place in Fort Lauderdale’s Central Broward Regional Park in the coming days. Co-hosts USA and 2022 finalists Pakistan are battling for a position in Group A’s Super Eight stage. With four points from three games and a net run-rate (NRR) of +0.127, the USA is ranked second in the group. Pakistan, on the other hand, has only two points from three games, but their net run-rate is superior at +0.191. From Group A, only one of these two teams will go with India to the Super Eight stage.
This Friday, June 14 in Lauderhill, Florida, the USA takes on a struggling team from Ireland. The team captained by Monank Patel advances to the next round with a victory. If they don’t win, though, they’ll have to pray that Ireland triumphs over Pakistan at the same location on Sunday.

Although the situation in Group A is tense, Fort Lauderdale’s weather is the issue. The T20 World Cup rookies will advance to the next round, but Pakistan would be eliminated if the match between the United States of America and Ireland is a washout. Even if the USA loses versus Ireland, they still have a chance to qualify. But before that can occur, the outcome of the Pakistan-Ireland game must be decided by the rain gods.
