On Friday, November 8, Australia and Pakistan played the second match of their current three-game ODI series at the Adelaide Oval. Australia sought to secure the series with another strong performance in the second ODI after winning the opener.
But Pakistan’s ambitions were different. Australia lost the toss and had to bat first to start the second ODI. Matthew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk scored 19 and 13 runs, respectively, to start the team’s innings. Josh Inglis contributed 18 runs, and Steven Smith contributed 35.
With Marnus Labuschagne out for just six runs, the Australians’ situation only became worse. Moreover, Australia scored 163 runs in the game’s opening innings before Aaron Hardie and Glenn Maxwell were removed for 14 and 16 runs, respectively.
In the first innings, Haris Rauf was Pakistan’s standout player for the Men in Green. Rauf was outstanding for his team, taking five wickets. In addition, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Hasnain each claimed one wicket, while Shaheen Afridi claimed three.
In Adelaide, Ayub and Shafique help Pakistan level the series.
With the goal of chasing down the 164-run total, Pakistan’s top-order batsmanship was outstanding. For the Men in Green, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique opened the innings with outstanding performances.
Ayub scored 82 runs in 71 deliveries after attacking the bowling immediately. In addition, Shafique scored 64* runs in 69 deliveries, remaining undefeated for the duration of his innings.
