The schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup was released on Tuesday, June 27, by the International Cricket Council and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). India’s first game will be against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. On October 15, India’s much-anticipated game against Pakistan will be at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, said right after the schedule was released that the team was looking forward to preparing well for the big event and hoped to do their best. The Men in Blue have not won a single ICC prize in the last ten years, so they are under a lot of pressure to do well this time. Rohit is aware of the pressure, though, because he thinks that all the teams will get better each day, making it a tough game.
“Playing in the World Cup at home will be a great experience. India won here 12 years ago, and I’m sure fans all over the country can’t wait for us to play this time. This World Cup will be very tough because the game is getting faster and the teams are playing better than ever. All of this is good news for fans all over the world, giving them hope for many exciting times.
In a statement made by BCCI, Rohit Sharma said, “We are looking forward to preparing well and being at our best in October and November.”
In the meantime, India will go to the West Indies for a full series in order to get ready for that. ODIs, on the other hand, will be very important for the team because the management hopes to solve some problems that have come up because some key players have been hurt recently.
Since KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer aren’t available right now, it’s likely that Sanju Samson will get a chance to play, and how he does could have a big impact on how India prepares for the mega event. In Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami’s absence, the bowlers will also be put to the test.
