Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Odisha announce 17-member squad for first two matches

The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has revealed the team that will compete in the Ranji Trophy 2024–25. Govinda Poddar, an experienced all-rounder, will captain the 17-member group. In domestic cricket, Odisha hasn’t had as much of an influence. They made their lone semi-final appearance in the Ranji Trophy history during the 2000–01 season, which was also their best season.

Their performance has been quite lacklustre ever since. The team, which was in Group D the previous season, ended seventh in the standings with just one victory and two draws from their seven games played under Shantanu Mishra.

In addition to Poddar and Mishra, the other members of the team include Anurag Sarangi, Sandeep Pattanaik, and Biplab Samantaray. Rajesh Dhupar and Aashirwad Swain are two more wicket-kepeers that the selection committee has added to the team. Additionally, Rajesh Mohanty, the team’s highest-wicket keeper from the previous season, has been added to the roaster.

Here’s Odisha squad for Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Govinda Poddar (C), Shantanu Mishra, Anurag Sarangi, Sandeep Pattanaik, Biplab Samantaray, Kartik Biswal, Swastik Samal, Rajesh Dhupar (WK), Aashirwad Swain (WK), Anil Parida, Suryakant Pradhan, Sunil Kumar Roul, Rajesh Mohanty, Debabrata Pradhan, Tarani Sa, Harshit Rathod, and Sumit Sharma.

Furthermore, starting on October 11 at Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium in Agartala, Odisha, a member of Group A, will play their first-ever match versus Tripura.

Their first home game in Cuttack is against Jammu and Kashmir, and it will take place at Cuttack’s Barabati Stadium.
