A 16-person team for the forthcoming ODI series against India in Colombo has been announced by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) selection committee. August 2, 4, and 7 will see the Lankan Lions play three games at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
Charith Asalanka’s selection as the new ODI skipper was the main topic of discussion following Sri Lanka’s roster announcement.
In December of last year, Kusal Mendis was selected the ODI captain; he has been replaced. March saw Sri Lanka’s most recent ODI series against Bangladesh end in defeat under the command of the wicketkeeper-batter. Asalanka, who was recently appointed T20I captain in place of Wanindu Hasaranga, will now captain Sri Lanka in white-ball cricket.
The squad was accepted by Harin Fernando, the Honourable Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, according to a media statement from SLC. Ramesh Mendis, Dinesh Chandimal, Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Perera, and Chamindu Wickramasinghe are not in the ODI team from the T20I squad that is playing a three-match T20I series against India. During the 50-over matches, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Chamika Karunaratne, Janith Liyanage, Nishan Madushka, and Akila Dananjaya have been included.
