The star of Indian cricket, Virat Kohli, tied Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most hundreds in one-day international cricket when he scored his 49th century in the 37th match of the ongoing ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 in Kolkata versus South Africa. India defeated South Africa by 243 runs, thanks in large part to Kohli’s century, which came off 119 balls. Since Kohli’s 35th birthday fell on this milestone, it was even more memorable.
14 years prior, at the same location, Virat Kohli had also achieved his first century in an ODI. It is noteworthy to mention that while Tendulkar required 451 innings to accomplish this milestone, Kohli needed 277 innings.
With 31 hundreds, Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain and colleague of Virat Kohli, is ranked third all-time.

Following his knock, Kohli conveyed his appreciation for both the tremendous fan support and his opportunity to play for India. He also said that, as he has done year after year, his job was to bat deep and support the team.
“For me, every chance to represent India in sports is really important. It is beyond amazing that I get to perform this in front of such a large audience on my birthday. As cited by SkySports, “Something you wish happens as a child,” remarked Kohli.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to have these kinds of experiences and to receive such a great deal of affection from the people. I was supposed to bat deep and all the way through. I have carried out that over the years. Men huddle close to me. “I’m going to make an effort to support the team in any manner I can,” he continued.
