However, Head hit an incredible hundred runs after returning to the Australian team after an injury.
In addition, he scored 109 (67) off of ten fours and seven sixes in his innings, setting a record for the fastest century on his World Cup debut in just 59 balls. Josh Inglis (38 off 28) and Pat Cummins (37 off 14) helped Australia reach 388 in the last overs after he was dismissed. The two best bowlers for New Zealand were Glenn Phillips, who took three wickets in 10 overs with a 3/37 average, and Trent Boult, who took three wickets in ten overs with a 3/77 average.
