Star leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is back in the mix for the series against South Africa after missing the recently finished ODI World Cup in India. To everyone’s astonishment, the 33-year-old is back in the ODI lineup, even though it was believed that he would play in the T20I series. But it also gives him a chance to play effectively and make an impression on the plans for the next T20 World Cup.
Regarding the same action, former cricket player Sanjay Manjrekar stated that Chahal is a bowler for the Twenty20 International format and that he wasn’t expected to play in the one-day international competition. In his analysis of India’s bowling unit, he also expressed his excitement at seeing Deepak Chahar and Avesh Khan, who would be playing in this format again after a long absence.
“I enjoy it. Once more, this is about managing workload, but I am happy to see Deepak Chahar return because I enjoy his style of cricket. Avesh Khan is given another chance. Mukesh Kumar is, in my opinion, a solid and trustworthy bowler who has improved. Chahal is an unexpected addition. Manjrekar stated on Star Sports, “I thought Chahal was more of your bowler for T20 cricket, but there they have somebody like a (Ravi) Bishnoi.”
I’m very glad Rajat Patidar is well and ready to go. Sanjay Manjrekar
Regarding the batting lineup, the 58-year-old expressed his happiness at Rajat Patidar being called up to the ODI squad. Due to his exceptional performance in domestic cricket, the cricketer has been selected for the next series against South Africa. Manjrekar said that he is excited to watch the young brigade play and expressed his happiness to see Rinku Singh and Sanju Samson in the ODI squad.
“I’m really glad to see Rajat Patidar well and eager to leave. A significant boost for Rinku Singh. He is currently participating in ODI cricket. When I watched Sanju Samson play in India’s One-Day Internationals against South Africa, I couldn’t help but feel that he’s a solid choice. When I watch players from India’s future generation or second string, I get delighted every time. Although they appear to be a very powerful squad, South Africa is a difficult opponent in bilateral series in white-ball cricket. Thus, it will be a challenging test, but this team is excellent,” he said.
