Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh shared his thoughts on Shubman Gill, India’s opening batsman. Due to a recent decline in his batting performance, the young hitter has come under fire, but Harbhajan defended him by stressing that there is nothing wrong with Gill’s technique.
Harbhajan Singh explained Gill’s current problems as being the result of fatigue from a demanding cricket schedule. The star of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season, Gill, found himself in the spotlight but was unable to match his IPL performance against Pakistan in the tournament’s opening match, scoring just 10 runs off 32 deliveries.
“I believe that too much cricket is to blame for this. He has been performing for quite some time. His IPL was excellent. Because the IPL is such a grueling competition, every player needs to take a break. Every other day, you go on a trip and play. I think he simply needs a short break. There is no question that he is a quality player, according to Harbhajan, who spoke with India Today.
Harbhajan asserted that Gill’s technique is flawless and that the young prodigy will recover once he reclaims his self-assurance. Gill, who concluded the IPL 2023 season with the most runs scored, has since struggled with his performance.
He will regain his form and begin to score runs. His batting style and technique, in my opinion, are both fine. However, Harbhajan continued, “It’s just that his confidence is a little low. If he gives himself a little more time, he’ll come good.
The top four batsmen for India, including the captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer, struggled to tally significant totals against Pakistan during their most recent Asia Cup campaign. Ishan Kishan and vice captain Hardik Pandya’s outstanding batting performances, though, helped the team to victory. Fans of Shubman Gill continue to hold out hope that he will quickly regain his form as India shifts its focus to Nepal in their forthcoming match.
