Nita Ambani said after MI New York won the first edition, “I think MLC is a momentous step in the development of cricket in this region.”

Mumbai and New York Major League Cricket (MLC)’s maiden season was won by MI New York on July 31, 2023, at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas, thanks to a string of impressive performances. The team’s owner, Nita Ambani, was at the game, as she usually is, passionately supporting the team as the men in blue and gold put on a fantastic performance to win the championship. America’s T20 cricket league is called Major League Cricket. The thrilling final between MI New York and the Seattle Orcas concluded the first season, which began on July 13.

Speaking on the historic event, Mrs. Ambani called the final’s atmosphere “unbelievable and really exciting.” She also praised the impact of the competition, which featured some of the world’s top athletes. “Look at the mood around here. A cricket festival seems to be taking place. I believe the MLC is a significant milestone in the growth of cricket in this area. Sport has the potential to be a pillar of society, and it is deeply ingrained in American culture. So it’s wonderful that we can work with MLC to support the expansion and improvement of cricket in this area. Every second of it is fun for me.

Nita Ambani remarked, “It’s been amazing to witness the rise of cricket around the world, especially MI coming to the UAE, South Africa, and now here in the US. Additionally, we have a women’s squad, with which I am quite pleased. It was incredibly inspiring to see these young girls from such different backgrounds come together and play as a team. It was quite comforting.

The Women’s Premier League’s (WPL) debut season, according to Mrs. Ambani, might transform the game. She remarked, “I’m a big supporter of girls in sports and I hope we can advance it in every sport possible.”

Mrs. Ambani also discussed MI’s distinctive #OneFamily philosophy and what it stands for. “Our mentality at MI is that we are a family, and we do believe that. It includes all of our supporters who have made MI a household name, in addition to the players and support staff. Education and Sports for All is, in my opinion, one of our most crucial projects. 22 million Indian youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds have received assistance thanks to the initiative. The Mumbai Indians have over the years served as a talent scouting ground, according to Mrs. Ambani. Hardik (Pandya) and Jasprit (Bumrah)  are two young players that Mumbai Indians take satisfaction in discovering and developing.
