Because of concerns regarding his level of preparation, New Zealand fast bowler Adam Milne has been removed from the white-ball squads that will be travelling to Pakistan and India in the near future.
On Monday, the news was shared with the public by New Zealand Cricket (NZC). Following the conclusion of the most recent home series against India, the right-arm fast bowler suffered from a tight hamstring. As a result, his return to action for the Wellington Firebirds was delayed, and he was unable to play in two Ford Trophy matches in December.
Even though he had already participated in the first two games of the Super Smash season for the Firebirds, it was decided that he should not play in any of the six ODIs that were scheduled to take place in India and Pakistan during the next 16 days.
As a result, a decision was made to replace Milne with Central Stags speed bowler Blair Tickner, who is currently in Pakistan with the Test team. This decision was reached through a process of mutual consent.
Gavin Larsen, a selector for New Zealand, noted that the decision was not an easy one to make.
“Adam spoke to us in an extremely forthright manner his concerns regarding the dearth of one-day bowling loading that will be available on the upcoming tours. After talking to him, we came to the conclusion that his preparation leading up to the tour would not be sufficient for him to deal with the rigours of two consecutive one-day international series consisting of three games each “explained Larsen.
“We appreciate his honesty and his real desire not to let the team down,” continued Larsen. “We could not have asked for more from him.”
Milne is planning to continue playing for the Wellington Firebirds whenever he is available over the rest of the home summer.
According to Larsen, Tickner, who already has six one-day internationals under his belt, is a ready-made substitute.
“Blair’s ability to bowl through the middle of the batting order as well as his ability to hit the ball hard give him a prospect that is comparable to what Adam provided for us. The fact that he is already in Pakistan and familiar with the environment is an advantage in its own right “included the selector in the list.
On January 4, the Blackcaps players that compete in one-day internationals will depart New Zealand for Pakistan. The first match of the white-ball series against India will take place on January 18, while the final match will be played on February 1. The series will include three One-Day Internationals and the same number of Twenty20 Internationals.
