Colombo, 17 May 2023: The New York Strikers, who finished second in their inaugural season of the Abu Dhabi T10 last year, announced today that they have acquired a franchise in the thrilling Lanka Premier League, which will be known as the Colombo Strikers. Sagar Khanna’s franchise has joined the Kandy Falcons, Jaffna Kings, Galle Gladiators, and Dambulla Aura in the five-team tournament.
Sagar Khanna, owner of the Skky Group, a leader in multiple industries including hospitality, retail, and real estate, made his debut in cricket by co-founding the New York-based Skky Strikers. Later, he became the sole proprietor of the franchise. Prior to relocating to Abu Dhabi and Sri Lanka, the Skky Strikers were victorious in multiple tournaments in the United States of America.
Khanna stated, in reference to the expansion of the franchise’s operations in Sri Lanka, “We have formed a strong connection with our supporters in the United States and Abu Dhabi, and we cannot wait to do the same with the cricket-crazy citizens of Colombo. The combination of the city’s cricket culture and our style of cricket will undoubtedly be very thrilling. We are excited to introduce the Strikers’ indomitable spirit to the cricket fans of Colombo.”
