Re-joining the India Cements team is star Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin, who might potentially be reunited with the Chennai Super Kings at the IPL mega auction next year. As a condition of the agreement, Ashwin would assume leadership of CSK’s upcoming High-Performance Centre, which is being built outside of Chennai.
With this move, Ashwin would have a great opportunity to sign with his old IPL side, CSK, when teams go up for auction in the IPL 2025. The experienced spinner is currently with the Rajasthan Royals (RR), and he cannot be moved to CSK due to the mega auction. The auction will give CSK the best chance to sign the off-spinner again, as he last competed for them in 2015.
We are powerless to influence that; it is dependent upon the mechanics of the auction. We will just have to wait and see if the chance arises. Initially, he will be leading our High-Performance centre and managing all aspects of cricket, including programmes and all. He’s back on our roster. According to The Indian Express, CSK CEO Kari Viswanthan stated, “He is now a part of the CSK venture and will also play for the India Cements teams in the TNCA First Division.”
My main goal is to make a contribution to the cricket community. Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin, who began his career in 2008 at the age of 22, when he joined India Cements, would be able to complete a full circle with this transfer. The youthful off-spinner’s breakthrough came in 2010, when he made his India debut thanks to his exploits for CSK in 2009 and 2010. Prior to joining other teams in 2015, he was a vital member of CSK’s core group.
“My main goal in this new role is to grow the game and make a positive impact on the cricketing community,” Ashwin stated.
In addition to managing the high-performance centre, Ashwin will play First Division league cricket for Tamil Nadu as a member of the India Cements team. Every cricket player from CSK, regardless of nationality, will have a home base and year-round training in the cutting edge new training facility.4
