New CSA T20 League Star Faf Du Plessis Signed by CSK-Owned Franchise

Until last year, when he joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL, Du Plessis was a member of the CSK. His tenure with the team lasted from 2011 to 2021.

According to a recent report, former South African captain Faf du Plessis has been signed by the Johannesburg franchise owned by IPL heavyweights Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as their marquee signing for the first season of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 League. Despite spending the 2016 and 2017 seasons with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL, Du Plessis was a member of the CSK from 2011 till 2021. All six teams in the future league were unable to make any more direct player acquisitions after Wednesday’s deadline.

All six franchises of the inaugural CSA T20 League, set to take place in January-February 2023, have been purchased by current IPL team owners.

Franchises in Durban, Gqeberha (previously Port Elizabeth), Paarl, and Pretoria are owned by Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals, while Mumbai Indians owns the Johannesburg-based franchise, CSK.

According to cricketmood, the CSK-owned Johannesburg franchise has also signed England all-rounder Mooen Ali as one of its star players.

In addition to playing for CSK in the IPL, Ali was a star attraction in the UAE League (ILT20).

While both tournaments are scheduled for January-February of next year, Cricbuzz claims that he chose the South African T20 over ILT20.
