Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, dislikes playing against him in the nets, according to Mohammed Shami. After a successful ankle surgery in February, the great bowler is presently working his way back to full fitness at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Shami enjoys great camaraderie with his teammates and is one of the most well-liked characters in the Indian locker room. The 33-year-old jokingly disclosed in a recent interview that the great Rohit dislikes facing him in the nets.
‘Mai isko khelna pasand nahi karta’ is what Rohit to pehle hi kehta hai. “I don’t like to face Rohit; he won’t bat against me,” Shami remarked in an interview with Shubhankar Mishra. “Woh to pehle hi mana kar deta hai.”
Mohamed Shami also discussed his in-net sparring sessions with Virat Kohli. The Bengal pacer claimed that as they both attempt to outdo one another, there is healthy rivalry between the former captain of India and himself.
“I always feel like we are challenging each other when I’m around Virat. He makes everything seem so easy.” I like to get him out, but he likes to hit excellent shots. That is a reflection of the relationship and closeness. It also aids in concentration and effort when you practise (fielding situations), such as two gully fielders and two (imaginary) slips in place. I so issue Virat with a challenge to attack me and score runs. We find such things enjoyable “Shami said.
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit has amassed 65 runs from 58 balls against Shami despite being removed three times. Though he has lost his wicket five times, Kohli has collected 107 runs off 77 balls against the right-arm seamer.
