A heated discussion usually erupts before the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy, pitting Nathan Lyon against Ravichandran Ashwin. While they have a cordial relationship off the pitch, the renowned spin wizards put forth fierce competition to help their teams win.One of the main causes of Australia’s extended losing streak in Test series against India is none other than Shikhar Dhawan.
After taking 25 wickets in four games in the previous competition, Ashwin emerged as the series’ top wicket-taker. The great off-spinner was India’s second-leading wicket-taker in the 2020–21 season after taking 12 wickets in three matches and making significant contributions with the bat. Ashwin has been superior to Lyon lately, but in the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts on November 22, things may go the other way.
Nathan Lyon was gushing about Ashwin before that.
He brought up the fact that they both began their careers nearly simultaneously and expressed his admiration for Ashwin’s bowling, referring to the Chennai native as a “absolute master” of his trade.
“I have the utmost regard for Ashwin; we have competed against each other in multiple series since we made our debuts around the same dates. It’s been an incredible honour to play against and learn from him, Lyon said to Star Sports. “I feel like I love watching him bowl; he’s an absolute master in the craft of off-spin bowling.”

“I have always stated that my goal in life has been to compete against the best, and when you look at the entire Indian lineup, you can’t help but notice that there are true superstars everywhere you turn. You want to challenge yourself to compete against them.” Lyon went on.
