The uncapped left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed was called up by Bangladesh on Sunday, but the injured fast bowler Ebadot Hossain was left off the squad for the second test match against India, which will begin in Dhaka on December 22.
“The first test resulted in an injury for Ebadot that he sustained on his back. The second test will be impossible for him to pass. Because of this, we decided to replace him with Nasum Ahmed, even though we have not yet decided whether or not we will play an additional spinner in Dhaka “remarked Habibul Bashar, the selector.
In the first encounter of the two-match series, India won the match against Bangladesh by a score of 188 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
After Bangladesh was bowled out for a meagre total of 150 runs in their first innings, India scored 404 runs and declared their second innings when they were at a score of 258-2.
Following being given a mammoth goal of 513 runs, Bangladesh were all out for 324 runs after a debutant score of 100 and an addition of 84 runs from the captain Shakib Al Hasan.
During the second innings of India’s game, the home team appeared to be lacking in options when Ebadot and Shakib did not bowl owing to injury worries.
Although he has participated in four one-day internationals and 28 Twenty20 internationals, Nasum Ahmed has not yet taken part in a test match.
He was a member of the Bangladesh One-Day International team that won the preceding three-match series against India 2-1.
Tamim Iqbal, the opening batsman for the team, was suffering from a groyne ailment when the ODI series and the first Test were played, and he was not selected for the squad for the second Test.
Anamul Haque, a batsman, and Shoriful Islam, a speed bowler, were also not selected.
