Following a terrible showing in the Super Eights in the current T20 World Cup, Bangladeshi skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed his regret to the supporters. The Bangla Tigers faced tough opposition in Australia, India, and Afghanistan, losing all three of their group stage matches despite winning three of their four games. It was anticipated that they would perform better in the next round.
Bangladesh lost the first two Super Eights matches, but they still had a chance to advance to the semi-finals, but they couldn’t take advantage of it. Najmul Hossain Shanto & Co. held Afghanistan to 115 runs, which if they had scored in 12 overs, would have put Bangladesh in the semifinals. But in the end, Afghanistan won the match by eight runs to advance to the next round. They were unable to stop it.
The Bangladeshi captain begged for pardon after the match, stating that the batting unit had disappointed him in the competition. He continued by saying that the team management will evaluate each player’s performance and hoped for improved play in the future.
I would believe that as a team, we have let our supporters down during the entire World Cup. Those who consistently watch our matches have been let down. Thus, I apologies on behalf of my group. We just couldn’t deliver as a batting group. We are sorry for that.
After the game against Afghanistan, Najmul Hossain Shanto stated, “We will attempt to overcome it in the future.
“The bowlers played excellently. Rishad bowled well in every match before to this particular competition. Numerous advantages exist. But we have let our fans down by batting. He continued, “We have harmed the citizens of this nation.
The cricket player added that despite the players’ tremendous effort and 100% effort, the outcome wasn’t in their advantage. He expressed his regret to the supporters on their behalf and acknowledged the problems.
However, I would want to emphasise that attempts were not in short supply. We all gave it everything we had. Each person worked honestly on their tasks. However, in the end, we were unable to fulfil. I would like to apologise on behalf of the team for this, Najmul Hossain Shanto stated.
