Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, claimed that his team’s historic victory in the Test series against Pakistan has given them confidence that they can win away from home.
Bangladesh made history in Rawalpindi, defeating Pakistan 2-0 in a two-match Test series, before of their impending tour of India. Bangladesh shot up to No. 4 in the World Test Championship (WTC) rankings after this incredible performance. As the Tigers prepare to square off against table-topping India in a two-match Test series, the battle will only get harder. Shanto is optimistic that his team will be extremely motivated by their historic series victory over Pakistan.
“Belief is a single word. When you are winning, it feels amazing. It is crucial to savour these occasions. In my opinion, the Bangladeshi team has never experienced a situation like this before. Cricket players search for citations. We have one right now. We are confident in our capacity to succeed overseas,” Shanto said.
We will undoubtedly think that we are capable of victory: Najmul Hossain Shanto
After seeing how hard his players had worked, Shanto stated that he thought his side will perform well in Pakistan. The Southpaw believes his teammates still believe they can win in light of the Pakistani outcome.
“We won’t know the outcome until we play again, but we will undoubtedly believe that we can win. When questioned about Bangladesh’s appalling performance in Pakistan, I made the same statement at the press conference on the first day: records are meant to be broken. After observing the players’ dedication to their work, I made that assumption,” said Shanto.
