One of the most well-known athletes in the world is without a question the former captain of India, MS Dhoni. Even though he will be leaving the Indian cricket team in August 2020, Dhoni will still play for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. It seems sense that the 43-year-old’s fans are very engaged on social media, as he is a beloved figure.
As evidence of his popularity, MS Dhoni supporters have recently sparked the “Thala for a reason” movement.
It’s common for supporters to associate every positive development with Dhoni’s number seven jersey. Recently, the former captain of India spoke up about it, admitting that he is aware of it and even thanked his followers on social media for their unwavering love and support.
“This trend was unknown to me personally. Instagram is how I learnt about it. I am therefore appreciative of my admirers. I’m not in need of self-defence on social media. I’ve never felt the urge to publicly express myself on Instagram or social media. My fans come through for me whenever I need it. They compliment me whenever it’s needed,” Dhoni remarked at a function.
That means I don’t have to do anything. This must have also played a role in that. I therefore owe my fans a great deal. Despite my lack of activity on social media. They still eagerly await my posts and find it so entertaining,” he continued.
