After they broke the agreement to open cricket schools, MS Dhoni filed a complaint accusing Soumya Das and Mihir Diwakar, his erstwhile business partners, of defrauding him of Rs 16 crore. MS Dhoni, Mihir, and Soumya co-owned Aarka Sports and Management Limited in Ranchi.
The criminal action against Mihir and Soumya has been filed on the grounds of forgery, according to people close to the renowned Indian cricket player. According to reports, in 2017, Mihir inked an agreement with Dhoni to open cricket academies in India and overseas under the cricketer’s name. However, Mihir did not follow through on the terms of the agreement.
Mihir has refuted the claims. Nonetheless, he is the subject of up to five ongoing summonses and complaints in Tamil Nadu. He had withdrawn from the judicial proceedings, citing his ill health. In addition, Mihir is the target of a formal complaint from Shradha Global Educational Trust. An amount of Rs 35 lakh was taken out for a new school project, including the captain’s logo and support, who has won the Indian Premier League five times.
Without any authorization, he had crossed the dotted line to formalize an agreement with the trust on behalf of MS Dhoni.
After learning that Mihir lacked any control over logos and endorsements, the trust proceeded to file a complaint against him. A close source and friend of MS Dhoni has stated that Mihir’s actions have damaged the former India captain’s reputation.
The insider told India Today, “He is making a statement, but Mihir Diwakar needs to gather courage and appear in Ranchi court to respond to the matter.”
In the District Court of Ranchi, MS Dhoni filed a criminal case against 1. Aarka Sports Management Pvt Ltd. for offenses under Sections 406, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). 2. Aarka Sports Management Pvt. Ltd., Director Mihir Diwakar; 3. Soumya Das.
Dhoni removed Mihir’s authority on August 15, 2021. But the latter went on to use the Dhoni name to open numerous cricket academies, both in India and overseas. For the MS Dhoni Sports Academy and MS Dhoni Cricket Academy, Mihir additionally collected franchisee funds.
