A full-time bowling coach Morne Morkel will be assigned to the Indian team after the current Sri Lankan series. Rumour has it that the BCCI has acceded to Gautam Gambhir’s demand, and the Bangladesh Test series might determine the team’s eventual coach.
Even if Dilip is likely to remain in his role, Bahutule’s responsibilities will finish with the conclusion of the Sri Lanka series. It is anticipated that veteran South African pacer Morne Morkel would be appointed bowling coach for life.
India’s bowling coach during their Sri Lankan tour was Sairaj Bahutule. As the fielding coach, T Dilip went, while Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate were Gambhir’s assistants.
Morkel, who played for KKR under Gautam Gambhir and then collaborated with the India head coach at LSG, is the front-runner for the job. Gambhir put forward Morkel’s name, and the Indian coach now has his wish.
Excitement is building not only for the India vs. Sri Lanka matches but also for the planned changes to the coaching structure of the Indian cricket squad. It would be intriguing to observe any adjustments made to the team’s plan with the appointment of Morne Morkel as India’s bowling coach.
As to a report on, Morkel would assume leadership of the Indian cricket team’s bowling unit beginning with the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. It is expected that he will be officially appointed prior to the team’s September home series. If Sairaj Bahutule were to be elevated to head coach, that is unknown. He is currently employed in Sri Lanka as a temporary bowling coach.
As the current six-match white-ball series in Sri Lanka progresses, the Indian team management and selectors will evaluate the current coaching staff. They will formally assemble a new roster for the forthcoming matches based on their findings. The uncertainty regarding Bahutule’s involvement adds to the intrigue.
But Morne Morkel isn’t exactly known for his spin bowling abilities, so India might still require a specialist in the art. If the accusations are true, he will take over as the bowling coach in the following weeks.
Formerly, Rahul Dravid and Ravi Shastri had just three specialised assistants: a bowling coach, a fielding coach, and a batting coach. With Gambhir now on board, things may get complicated if he chooses to bring in specialists from every field.
