Nepal participated in four games in the tournament; three of those matches ended in losses, while one ended in a draw. It is noteworthy that Rohit Paudel led Nepal during the competition, and Monty Desai, the team’s head coach, spoke up to discuss his leadership abilities.
Numerous teams from across the globe competed in the T20 World Cup 2024, giving it their all to win the championship. Nepal was one of these teams; they were placed in Group D of the competition alongside teams like South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Netherlands.
Although Rohit Paudel is still developing as a leader, Monty Desai noted that the head coach was impressed by the captain’s forbearance and perseverance during the T20 World Cup.
I found the World Cup to be primarily about his handling of the bowlers. Because they play a lot more cricket than we do, Monty Desai told “He was up there, asking good questions by proactively deploying the right bowler against the skillsets which were more superior than us.”
Even the Netherlands is a far better cricket player than we are. The passion and intensity that Fielding exudes are superb. Once more, it spreads to others, and he is developing. He’s still young and developing. We needed more results, and as captain, Rohit Paudel also wanted more outcomes. However, we must be patient because leadership is important for long-term vision, and he is up there with the best players in international cricket right now in that aspect, he continued.
Even if Nepal did not have the intended outcome in the T20 World Cup, they appear to have faith in Rohit Paudel to guide the team and steer them in the correct route. At just 22 years old, Paudel has already established himself as one of the team’s strongest candidates to captain, and he intends to carry on in that role.
