Mohammed Shami, the star fast bowler for India, had an incredible run in the ODI World Cup 2023, finishing with 24 wickets in seven matches to lead all takers. The speedster even made history during the event by being the most successful Indian taker in the history of the ODI World Cup, with a total of 55 scalps.
During the cricket spectacular against Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and again against the Kiwis in the first semi-final at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, Mohammed Shami claimed three five-wicket hauls. He celebrated his fiancé on one of these occasions by sitting on his haunches. Nevertheless, some Pakistani media sources stated that the Indian fast bowler was prepared to do the revered “Sajda,” but he changed his mind at the last minute out of fear.
The Indian sailor, who is a proud Muslim in India, recently spoke out about the event and stated that nothing can stop him from doing Sajda. He continued by saying he wouldn’t be living in India if he had to ask people for permission to do everything.
“Who is going to stop me if I want to do Sajda? Neither they nor I will allow someone of a different religion to stop me. I’ll do it if I feel like it. What is the issue with it? I can declare with pride that I’m both Indian and Muslim. What, then, is the issue with it? I wouldn’t be living in India if I had any issues. “Why would I live here if I have to ask permission to perform Sajda?” Mohammed Shami said on Agenda Aaj Tak.
Tell me where to perform Sajda if you would like me to: Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami went on to say that since he had given his stint his all, his joy was more motivated by weariness.
Even on Instagram and Twitter, I saw claims that I intended to participate in Sajda but chose not to. Have I previously completed it? In my life, I’ve taken a lot of fifties. Tell me where to do it if you would like me to. I’ll do it on all Indian platforms. I’m not open to questions about it. I was putting my all into that period, bowling outside my comfort zone. I was so exhausted that I knelt in joy. I bent down a little when someone tugged my hair from behind, and people made memes out of it,” he continued.
With 55 wickets from just 18 matches, Mohammed Shami is currently the fifth-highest wicket scorer in ODI World Cup history as a result of his World Cup heroics. The speedster has an astounding economy of 5.13 and an average of 13.52. In addition, the 33-year-old has taken the most wickets in the tournament’s history (4).
