Test cricket has given Indian bowler Akash Deep a solid start to his international career. Mohammed Shami, in the opinion of former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan, would be the ideal role model for the young pacer.
Shami and Deep approach bowling in a similar way, emphasising the fundamentals. In light of these parallels, Khan suggested that the Bengal pacer aspire to be like his more experienced colleague in order to succeed in the long run.
“Akash Deep also aims to attack the stumps and maintain order. Mohammed Shami employs a similar strategy as well.
Akash Deep may benefit from Shami as a role model. Take a look at how Shami has succeeded in international cricket. Like Shami, Akash Deep enjoys utilising the seam well, Zaheer told.
The 27-year-old’s promise as a fast bowler has been demonstrated by his recent performances. On a cloudy opening day of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur, he took two significant wickets and finished with statistics of 2/34 from 10 overs. Earlier this year, in Ranchi, the Bengal bowler made a remarkable debut against England, taking three wickets in the first innings.
Akash Deep might vary his bowling by striking up a conversation with other bowlers: Zaheer Khan
Khan stressed how crucial it is that Deep maintain a constant seam position and can keep things simple. The former Indian pacer thinks he can improve as an international bowler more quickly by learning from Shami. Khan also thinks that Deep might improve his skill variety sooner rather than later by interacting with different bowlers.
“Bowling accurate distances and attacking the stumps will undoubtedly aid your cause. Shami’s achievement has been attained in this manner. There cannot be a finer role model than Akash Deep if that is what he is seeking for. Talk regarding his seam position is constant. Zaheer continued, “Akash Deep is consistent, but he can add variation to his bowling a lot sooner if he talks with other bowlers.”
